Liquid lunch

Sunday lunch essential for one grandma: vino tinto, and she’s probably got a trick to pop open that cork with her walking stick, too.

I snapped this shopping trolley in my local supermarket a few weekends ago. After debating on just how intrusive it was to take her photo, she did me a favour and shuffled off to the fizzy drinks aisle, no doubt to pick up a bottle of Coca-Cola to add some sugar and bubbles to her wine.

Calimocho – that is wine ‘n coke – is in fact a thing and in Argentina it’s called casacarudo, rocnrol and vinola among other names. Though I’m not a fan myself, I quite often have a bottle of coke on the side when I’m supping low-end plonk.
